The cable is mainly composed of the following four parts

2022-01-06

Conductive core: made of high conductivity material (copper or aluminum). According to the requirements of laying conditions on the flexibility of the cable, each wire core may be twisted by a single conductor or multiple conductors.

Insulating layer: the insulating material used as the cable shall have high insulation resistance, high breakdown electric field strength, low dielectric loss and low dielectric constant. Insulation materials commonly used in cables include oil immersed paper, polyvinyl chloride, polyethylene, cross-linked polyethylene, rubber, etc. Cables are often classified by insulating materials, such as oil immersed paper insulated cables, polyvinyl chloride cables, cross-linked polyethylene cables, etc.

Sealing sheath: protect the insulated core from mechanical, moisture, moisture, chemicals, light, etc. For insulation susceptible to moisture, lead or aluminum extruded sealing sheath is generally used.

Protective cover: used to protect the sealing sheath from mechanical damage. Generally, galvanized steel strip, steel wire or copper strip, copper wire, etc. are used as armor to wrap around the sheath (called armored cable), and the armor layer plays the role of shielding electric field and preventing external electromagnetic wave interference at the same time. In order to avoid the corrosion of steel strip and steel wire by surrounding media, they are generally coated with asphalt or wrapped with impregnated jute layer or extruded polyethylene and polyvinyl chloride sleeve.
